Reverse mortgage servicing fee explained: what loan servicing does, when monthly fees apply on HECM, and how to read your disclosures in 2026.

After closing, your reverse mortgage is administered by a loan servicer—the company that tracks your balance, handles draws on a line of credit, pays taxes/insurance from a LESA when applicable, sends statements, and coordinates payoffs. Some HECM loans include a monthly servicing fee set aside from available principal, depending on program rules and what was disclosed at closing.
