What the credential is meant to show
Holders would have completed a structured 32-hour reverse mortgage curriculum, worked practical case studies, and passed a 100-question final examination with an 80% passing threshold. Active status after year one would require $99 annual renewal and continuing education.
That is a demonstration of reverse mortgage knowledge. It is not a mortgage license, not a government endorsement, and not authorization to give legal, tax, investment, or other regulated professional advice.
Planned requirements
- Complete the 32-hour foundational course. See the curriculum.
- Work the practical case studies included in the course.
- Pass a 100-question examination at 80% or higher.
- Keep active status with annual continuing education after the first year. See continuing education.
What it costs
Initial certification is $199 one-time. That price is planned to include lifetime access to the original foundational course, the exam, and the first year of active credential status. Annual renewal is $99 beginning after the first year. Full numbers are on Academy pricing.

Trademark and naming
Certified Reverse Mortgage Advisor (CRMA) is the preferred designation. A backup name is held in Academy configuration if trademark clearance does not allow the preferred mark. Neither name has been legally cleared. Do not treat either acronym as a registered or government mark.
Questions about the credential
Is the CRMA a license to originate reverse mortgages?
No. It is a knowledge credential. Originating still requires whatever state, NMLS, and lender approvals apply to that person. Completing the Academy does not issue those approvals.
Is the certification available to take today?
Not yet. The public pages describe the planned standard. Course access, the exam, and credential issuance are not open. Enrollment Coming Soon.
Does HUD, FHA, or NMLS endorse this credential?
No. The Academy does not claim accreditation, government approval, or endorsement by HUD, FHA, NMLS, or any professional organization.
